Company Overview

Founded in 2001, Symal has evolved from a small landscaping business into a prominent construction group with over 1,000 employees across four states. The company operates under four main brands: Symal, Sycle, Unyte, and Wamarra (49% owned by Symal), each contributing to its comprehensive service offerings.

Symal's vertically integrated model enables efficient project delivery, encompassing contracting, plant and equipment hire, material sales, recycling, and remediation services. This approach allows Symal to manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality and consistency across all stages.

Chief Executive Officer

Nabeel Sadaka has been CEO of Symal Group since 2019, driving the company’s growth strategy and operational excellence. He is responsible for setting strategic direction, enhancing governance, and ensuring long-term success.

With over 20 years of industry experience, including senior roles at Downer and Visionstream, Nabeel has led multi-billion-dollar projects across energy, transport, mining, and infrastructure sectors. Under his leadership, Symal has expanded into new markets through a focused growth strategy.

Nabeel ensures strong financial health, oversees reporting to the Board, and fosters key client and investor relationships. A published author on wind farm siting, he also contributes to industry standards. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural) with Honours from Swinburne University of Technology.

Ray Dando

Executive Director

With over 20 years of construction industry experience, Ray Dando serves as Symal Group’s Director of Strategy, Growth, and Delivery. A Shareholder and Executive Director since 2010, he has been instrumental in Symal’s evolution into a dynamic and successful business.

Ray’s expertise in strategic acquisitions, business development, and construction management drives operational efficiency and enhances project outcomes. He oversees all construction activities, ensuring projects meet the highest standards while fostering a collaborative work environment.

A respected leader, Ray’s commitment to innovation and team development continues to shape Symal’s long-term vision and success.

Andrew Fairbairn

Andrew Fairbairn

Executive Director

Andrew Fairbairn joined Symal in 2010 as a Shareholder and Executive Director, contributing significantly to the company’s growth. As Director of Governance, Risk, and Pre-Construction, he plays a key role in daily operations, risk mitigation, and group strategy, directly supporting Symal’s strong financial performance.

Andrew has been pivotal in integrating systems to support Symal’s rapid growth and oversees pre-contracts and new business initiatives, securing high-value contracts aligned with strategic objectives.

With over 20 years of industry experience, including roles at BMD and John Holland, Andrew’s technical expertise and strategic leadership are critical to Symal’s success. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from RMIT University, completed in 2005.

Geoff Trumbull

Geoff Trumbull

Chief Financial Officer

Geoff Trumbull joined Symal Group as CFO in 2024. He brings extensive executive experience in infrastructure, industrial, and consumer markets, with a background that includes roles at ASX‑listed companies such as Transurban, BlueScope Steel, and AMA Group.

Geoff’s most recent position was CFO at AMA Group. Prior to that, he was General Manager Finance and Regional CFO for Transurban’s NSW operations, including the CFO role for the WestConnex joint venture. His responsibilities have included interfacing with the Board and investors, leading debt restructuring and fundraising, overseeing strategy and business planning, managing M&A transactions, and handling financial reporting.

Geoff holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours, is a member of CPA Australia, a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
